"Ah. I see you finally made it... umm Miss?..." said a man, middled aged and somewhat handsome. Nana could tell that he knew he was handsome from the way he dressed and his overall demeanor. He oozed with self-confidence and a fair bit of narcissism. Nana was new to the island and was mostly a visitor, but she was here on other business as well. Her original goal to coming here had been to tail some Blue Pegasus light mages and learn anything she could from them. Her informant in Hargeon had given her as much information. "Nana of Eternal Nightmare. That's all you need to know if me." she would say, allowing a small amount of vehement hatred drip from her words. It was mostly to prevent the client- Mr. Herman Schwartz, from getting any ideas of overly familiarizing himself with her or her body. The man bit his tongue. He was not used to not getting his way, especially with women. It would seem that this Nana of Eternal Nightmare was either playing hard to get, or she simply chose her work over personal relationships. If it were the latter, Herman would have relished the challenge. The issue was, he was getting the impression that Nana's ;hard to get' would consist of him losing blood and several broken bones. Personally, he valued his body and pretty looks to risk such a confrontation. He would think for a moment, taking proper time to breathe so that he didn't say anything rash. He paced the small room that the two of them were in. It was a resort area of sorts. A large portion of Luluhawa islands was a tourist trap due to their vacation-like culture and customs. "Do you know how infuriating it is, to be denied something you desire?" he would say, adding a double inuendo to his rhetorical question. Nana's eyes narrowed as she stared at the man. He was standing and looking out a nearby window, but Nana had remained seated. Not bothering to partake in the cup of tea provided. She didn't typically partake in foods or drinks provided by her clients- just in case they were in the habit of selling their muscle over to the authorities or rune knights. "Sometimes we ask for too much and get burned. My job is to assist you, not play with you." she would say in a stern tone, her lips going into a cynical smile. Herman couldn't see it of course. For one, she wore a mask. For two, his back was turned to her. It would have been an easy thing to end the pompous man. His back was completely exposed to her. he was her client however. If she could help it, she preferred to not kill her clients. WC-177/1,500

He laughed, looking out the window but not looking back. The tips of his ears were red. He was laughing for a few reasons, but mainly because Nana had expertly thwarted his attempts to persuade her into romantic relations. Secondly, that sometimes even the best negotiators bit off more than they could chew. "You have the right of it, I'm afraid. I tried to do business with some of the locals, but they value their customs more than civilized progression." he would say, sighing and then slowly turning to face Nana and return to his seat. He had regained his business face and hid his personal embarrassment well. "I offered the locals quite a large sum of money to explore their lands and recover riches if there were any to find. They spurned my offer however. They said the treasures of this island are gifts to and from their gods." he would explain, revealing to Nana why she was here... but not specifically for the reason her expertise were required. "The locals are uncivilized people who have no grasp on the concept of jewels or riches. The only thing they place value in, is the culture. The best way to get through their thick heads, is to do something drastic." Herman would pause for dramatic effect, but clearly- it had no effect on Nana. She just looked at him absently, waiting for his talking to get straight to the point so she could leave. She was tiring of his presence. Sensing that his hired muscle was beginning to rethink their business venture, he cleared his throat and conceded to get straight to the point. "The chief of the village has a guardian relic that he and his people value greatly. I want you to go and steal it. You'll know what it is when you see it. bring it to me so that I can begin negotiations." he would say, though realistically... It was blackmail. Not that Nana cared, but she suspected the relic would end up being more trouble than it was worth. WC-174/1,500

Herman had finally gotten to the point of requiring Nana's assistance. He needed someone who was not familiar to the locals... who could also be stealthy, lacked an upright moral and could also fight if necessary. It sounded like a simple enough job, but one could never be too sure how things would turn out. It was highly probably that the chief had guards around his hut. Sneaking in would prove difficult and escape would be more so difficult if Nana was spotted. "I'll get this relic for you. Just don't expect me to stick around for your 'negotiations' Your paying me to steal, not blackmail." With the goal clear and no specific rules added to the quest, Nana knew what she needed to do and could do without her customer worrying about her methods. These types of jobs were the easiest, even if the clients were a real piece of work. At Nana's choice to agree with his plan, he raised a cup of tea as to perform a toast. Nana feigned ignorance and stood. It was time for her to get to work. WC-185/1,500

"Our gods provide us with their blessing of protection, as we continue to revere them and keep their relics safe from outsiders who would sell them for a quick profit." said a large overweight man. he was clearly the chief of the village. His tribal outfit was more decorated and his body paint was more extravagant as well. Nana couldn't help but wonder if his paint and outfit were more than he deserved, as she looked at his overweight figure. It was hard to believe that this native man had ever had the skill and dedication to lead his people in any real catastrophe. Nana skirted the village, avoiding being seen by the locals as she gauged the village's strengths and weaknesses. The time was dusk and soon the sun's fading rays would be completely gone. Then would be the time for Nana to go about her unsavory business. She waited atop a hut, too high to be seen. WC-160/1,500

The tribes people would soon be in for a large cultural shock. Their chief had led them to believe that they were a chosen people- protected by their deities. their relics were like promises to and from their gods. With the last rays of light now gone, it was replaced by the dancing flickering flames of campfires. Nana would take this advantage to go from hut rooftop and the next until she felt it was unwise to travel in such a means any longer. Being inconspicuous was the best camouflage currently. Just ahead of Nana, about twenty meters or so was the chief's hut. There were no guards directly in the doorway, but stationed outside to give the chief and his family some privacy. Getting into the chief's hut and quietly stealing the relic would prove a real challenge- that was if she did it stealthily and not the stabby way. WC-151/1,500

The short distance between Nana and the chief's hut disappeared quickly. Once she was within proximity of the guards, she tapped the side of her cap to activate the magical effect. Her body changed slightly, becoming partially translucent. Due to the poor lighting and the flickering shadows from the flames, provided Nana with the perfect disguise. As long as no one stood within a couple of feet of her and looked directly at her of course. What were the chances of that though? With being almost invisible now, she passed by the guards and snuck into the entrance of the chief's hut. All was quiet, except for the snoring sound coming from the chief's room. No doubt those were his snores, or maybe even his wife's. The idea seemed funny, but Nana refused to even chuckle. Some people were light sleepers and if she awoke them now, escaping would indeed prove difficult. With careful footsteps, Nana would peer into each room until she found the room that stored the relic. WC-170/1,500

She gazed at the relic, trying to figure out exactly what it was. It appeared to be an animal or sorts, or maybe a mythical creature. probably a likeness of one of their deities, based on one of the villagers' concepts. Fortune was on the daemon's side, as the relic itself was quiet small and light. It was made of stone, carved with ornate patterns and plant coloring paints. She picked the relic up and paused, as it she expected it to activate a trap. Maybe a large builder in a tunnel she would have to outrun... Or maybe poison dart walls. Nothing happened though and Nana's vivid imagination returned to the present. She turned to leave the hut and exited the front door carefully. Yet even as she exited the doorway, a boy who was apparently up passed his bedtime was near one of the nearest campfires, looking in her direction. WC-152/1,500

At first, the young lad thought he was seeing things. He blinked several time and rubbed his eyes. Nana stood perfectly still, wishing he would lose interest or run away. He did the opposite however. He stood up in alarm and began to yell. "A ghost! An evil spirit has claimed our sacred relic!" he yelled and the nearby guards whom had been close to falling asleep standing up, were wide awake now. With several whooping calls and cries, the four guards encircled the entrance of the chief's hut. The outcry awoke the chief as well. He stumbled out of his room and was about to say something about all the noise. He stopped however, as a translucent woman stood in his doorway. He could see his guards through her body. Surely she was a spirit and would bring harm to him since he was the chief! He cried out in fear and ran back to his room and hid. WC-160/1,500

Unlike the chief, the guards were not so easily startled or cowered. No, not even the young boy, who joined the guards to block the evil spirit's path from escaping the village. Nana's daemon eyes gauged each man, trying to guess his battle experience based on the movements of his body. Foot spacing, body stance and distance between their allies. Nana took all of this into consideration before she took action. Slowly, the four men and the boy approached, making calls at her and giving war cries. Soon the whole village would be awake and Nana needed to prevent things from escalating further. She had found her first target and it wasn't the boy who had picked up a large stick. It was her nearest target- he was quick to seek glory. Too quick. Nana shoved the small relic in between her breasts and prepared for combat. The sight of stowing the relic in her bosom offset the tribal warriors. WC-160/1,500

Nana took that momentary lapse in teamwork and struck, she attacked fast and furiously- as furious as a tiger in the forest just waiting for the right moment to catch its prey unawares. So overcome with the sudden ferociousness, the first warrior fell to Nana's magically appearing blades before he realized what happened. Nana pulled her right dagger out of the man's neck and kicked his body to the ground in front of the other three tribal warriors and the young boy. "Be gone evil spirit! Return our relic and leave our holy ground!" one of the tribal warriors called, trying to coax his fellow guards into bolstering their resolve after watching one of their own melt from a single strike. The remaining guards regained their composure thanks to their apparent leader. Had the chief come out from behind her to pincer her in an attack, Nana would have a much more difficult time dealing with the threat before her. He didn't however. WC-163/1,500

Nana had found her second victim. The leader of the guards who had bolstered his men. She stepped over the corpse at her feet and made a feign towards the young boy. The older mens' instincts kicked in and they side stepped to close the distance and intercept. It had been all a part of Nana's plan and as they side stepped towards the little boy, Nana stepped forward and gave the young boy a hard kick. The kick carried enough force to lift the boy and send him flying into the three men who had unsteady footing from the shift in their defensive positions. Rather than impaling the little boy who could have easily been his son, the leader dropped his spear and embraced the flying boy in a hug to prevent him from receiving further injury. The other two tribal warriors had flinched at the boy flying towards them. They had stayed their weapons for fear of friendly fire. Nana had acting quickly in that chaos and reached forward with both blades, striking the tribal warrior leader with the bite of the daggers as they pierced the little boy's ribs and into the leaders' stomach. Neither wound Nana inflicted on the boy or the warrior leader had been fatal. Rather, it was a bluff to intimidate the final two guards to back off. The boy cried out in terror and agony as he had been kicked and then stabbed. Worse, realizing he had been used as a weapon to severely hurt one of the other tribal warriors. The leader rolled in the dirt as Nana pulled her daggers free. His roll was to protect the boy from more stabbing, but he never let go of the boy either. Satisfied with his ability to fight her now, she turned her direction towards the final two warriors. One of the two guards lost his nerve at his group being toyed with. He backed off and began to second guess the wisdom of trying to fight a spirit with just a wooden spear. As if to accentuate his point, Nana stepped into his space swiftly and sliced his wooden spear into several pieces of kindling. A shrill cry of terror escaped his lips and he fainted. WC-178/1,500

The last remaining guard saw an opening as Nana attacked the other guard. he had a bow and knocked an arrow. He loosed it as Nana was chopping up the other guards' spear. Fully intent to demoralize the men further, Nana had accepted she may take a hit to her body as she performed her action. The arrow loosed from the boy and traveled the short distance, not being able to achieve full velocity due to the closeness of the shooters' target. The most bizarre thing happened however. As the arrow came in the bite into Nana's skin, it grazed her underarm and traveled through harmlessly, yet it appeared to the guards that the arrow had went through her harmlessly. Now fully convinced that Nana was indeed an evil spirit and unable to be hurt by mortal men. The remaining guard did the only thing that he could think of. He dropped his bow and began to bow as he cried out for his gods' protection and to stop the evil spirit from defacing their faith. A cry to a higher being to bring divine intervention. Nana scoffed. WC-188/1,500

The man was at a loss of how to deal with an evil spirit, but Nana knew exactly how to deal with him. Even has he groveled on the ground and begged for his divine guardians' protection, Nana's foot swiftly came up across his face and sent him tumbling into a nearby campfire. Shocked and disoriented, the man struggled and yelled as he tried to free himself from the flickering flames that caught onto his tunic. Only seconds later, he was a flaming fireball as he ran to and fro, trying to stop the flames but was too panicked to think clearly. The leader of the four guards thought similar and unable to harm the spirit Nana, prioritized the safety of his burning guard. He tackled the panicked man and began to roll him in the dirt to suffocate the flames. While he did this, the boy staggered off towards his parents, bleeding and crying. Further fires in the village began to appear and Nana knew it was time to make her departure. WC-173/1,500

Escaping had been quite easy after she dealt with the initial guards. She disappeared into the brush of the nearby forest. it would take several long minutes for the awakened tribal people to take in the whole situation and then organize any form of search party. It was plenty of time for Nana to escape in one direction, then circle around and go the opposite direction without being noticed. By the time a war party had organized, they were running off in the opposite direction of the green haired daemon. With her pursuit long gone and the relic still safely tucked into her bosom, she would wait until the first rays of daylight before doing the hand off to her client. Just as she suspected, the tribesmen had come to her client. They woke him up and searched his place vigorously, accusing him of having their sacred relic. Her client was dismayed but played along well enough. Nana watched from a distance, ready to assist him if things went too far. WC-171/1,500

The worst Herman received in injury, was a couple slaps to the face at first. When their ransacking turned up nothing, the tribal warriors changed their attitude and left quickly. Nana snickered to herself, Herman had deserved at least a couple of slaps on his pretty face for how he had tried to flirt with Nana. Satisfied that the tribesmen were gone for good, Nana would reveal herself before him just as daylight broke over the waters of the sea. "As promised. Now my reward." she would say bluntly and retrieve the relic from her bosom. The object was quite warm now and the man took it eagerly- whether from being in close proximity to Nana's body, or for blackmail against the tribe... Nana couldn't be certain. Either way, she turned it over to the man and collected her payment. It was his problem now. "Enjoy your negotiations, Mr. Herman." WC-155/1,500 WC Total- 3,220/1,500
