Knuckles Shi

Job:

The bustling city of Dahlia sprawled before Knuckles Shi as he arrived in response to a mysterious invitation. He had a reputation for navigating the intricate underworld of Fiore, but this assignment promised to be unlike any he had undertaken before. With his crimson eyes keenly observing his surroundings, Knuckles approached the designated meeting point, wondering what lay in store for him.

The coordinates led him to a luxurious mansion adorned with opulent gardens. The estate was a testament to opulence and excess, and Knuckles couldn't help but feel a pang of dissonance as he stepped through the imposing gates. He had always preferred the shadows and grit of the underworld, but the allure of this assignment was undeniable.

Inside the mansion, he was greeted by a striking woman, Elaine Latimer, whose silver hair and golden eyes exuded an otherworldly charm. She possessed a beauty that could captivate even the most jaded soul. Her presence was a paradox—a fusion of elegance and power.

Elaine's handmaiden discreetly led Knuckles to a lavish hotel room where the enigmatic woman awaited. As he entered, his gaze met hers, and for a moment, time seemed to stand still. She was unlike anyone he had encountered in his line of work.

Seated gracefully, Elaine wasted no time in addressing the purpose of their meeting. Her eyes bore into Knuckles, hinting at a mind that was as sharp as her beauty was captivating. She spoke of her husband's recent business deal with their biggest competitor, a deal she vehemently disagreed with. She knew that her chauvinistic husband would not listen to her protests, and so, she had hatched a plan—a plan that required Knuckles' particular set of skills.

Elaine leaned in, her voice a hushed whisper that carried the weight of intrigue. "I believe my son, Duncan, may be in grave danger," she confessed. "But I cannot openly confront my husband about it. Instead, I require your assistance in discreetly safeguarding my son."

She handed Knuckles a dossier, outlining the details of the task. His objective was clear: follow Duncan throughout the day and record his schedule, specifically noting the moments when he was most vulnerable. Three such occasions were identified, and the importance of timing and discretion was emphasized. The fate of Duncan hung in the balance, and Elaine's determination was palpable.

As Knuckles accepted the mission, he couldn't help but wonder about the complexity of the situation. This was not a typical assignment; it was a web of familial intrigue, business rivalry, and hidden agendas. He knew he needed to be cautious and precise in his actions.

With a nod of agreement, he prepared to embark on the task of shadowing Duncan, a boy who, despite his appearance, was said to possess deceptive speed. Knuckles would need to be vigilant and adaptable to keep up with the young man's movements.

As he left the hotel room, he couldn't shake the feeling that he had stepped into a world far removed from his usual haunts. The enigma of Elaine Latimer and the mission she had entrusted to him added a layer of intrigue that left him eager to unravel the secrets lurking in the shadows of Dahlia.

#2Kanji Lionhart

Kanji Lionhart
The city was full of it. The good life, the essence of humanity and mortals. The twists in the sin city lured in the night. The day barring fully in the atmosphere that its nightlife counterpart did. It was like the darkness had no care as it danced between daylight and sunset for the city of Dahila. On this day, Kanji Lionhart arrived in response to a lowly job request. Behest to join another member of the syndicate in the job although it was largely and wholly unnecessary.  The reputation and skill of Knuckles Shi, a former member of Sleeping Calamity and now a founding pillar of the Akudama Syndicate was child's play. Not worth his time or a fraction of his power. This was a trail and observation request after all.

With a lack of interest and care, his pitch black eyes looked to and fro towards the environment. A bit behind his partner for the day. It was such a fancy snazzy place, someone with deep pockets and even deeper concerns. Gluttony and excess at its finest, not bad not bad at all. But as fine and majestic this place looked, Kanji could not help but be steadfast at the wonder and curiosity towards their client.

What were they like. What were their intentions in hiring people of the underworld and way? Would it be interesting, amusing at least?

Waiting to the side, Kanji was out of range and directions as Knuckles was called out into the inner sectors of the mansions. He did not see the striking silver madam of the home, Elaine Latimer. But he did hear her. The echo chip shared a nice gift to listen as he laced about with staff. For some reason they were all too happy having him stay out while the bosses spoke about business.

It was all fine with him. He would rather not doll up and play any roles if he did not had to. As fun as it could be to play with different masks, it was always better to let others do it and enjoy the show. The explanation was simply enough as the magic transferred the audible sound into Kanji's brain. Her husband had a recent business deal with their biggest competitor, a deal she vehemently disagreed with. Be it a source of ideology, risk, or mistrust. The possible gains for the main goal, greed, were tempting. But for her this was all just a foolish mistake. A swift mind coming to the case from numbers and the breakdown of interpersonal history. Or perhaps simple pride. Pride being choked down to work with one biggest rival and to be stuck in the wayside in disagreement? Distrust of her husband as well as poor communication. And here they were.

The issue was different though as her voice shifted. Her request wasn't about the deal or even her husband. But their child.

"Babysitting a brat?", Kanji whispered softly to himself in wonder. Watching some rich kid was boring. Kanji would have preferred a multitude of things instead. Getting to interact and influence the youngling at the least would have been a small saving grace, but even that was unavailable. No, he would have to just deal with it until the job was done. Maybe he could try to be nosey in some fashion and find out some interesting details.

So when Knuckles exited the meeting room in the hotel, Kanji was there just waiting leaning against a wall. Choosing to leave the mansion and wait around where he could guess Knuckles was located. Snacking on an apple as he chewed on the last pieces of it. Objective in mind, Kanji followed and worked with Knux. It was… a bit of a surprising amount of work keeping up with the child. But they managed it and found a few times someone would get the chance to kidnap him.
