Hakai

Ah Dahlia, he found himself again in another city aside from Hosenka. As Hakai ventured deeper into Dahlia, he couldn't shake the feeling of unease that permeated the city. Despite the bright sun above, the city retained an eerie atmosphere, with unsettling rumors of kidnappings and sinister creatures lurking in the shadows. The mist occasionally enveloped the area, providing a cloak for nightmarish beings to wander the human realm. Ghosts were said to haunt the settlement, and the streets teemed with the walking dead, seeking innocent humans to sate their insatiable hunger. Dahlia was no place for the faint of heart, and if Hakai had a choice, he would have avoided it altogether.

However, he found himself following a mysterious handmaiden, the intermediary between him and his client. While he had no knowledge of her intentions, Hakai knew that she would lead him to the heart of the city. Eventually, they arrived at an opulent hotel, an oasis of luxury within the unsettling town. The establishment exuded an odd combination of lavishness and a pervasive sense of unease, leaving Hakai to wonder what lay ahead. "This way, please!" With the handmaiden as his guide, he followed closely, prepared for whatever awaited him in this ominous city.

Hakai

Hakai found himself standing before a simple yet elegantly adorned door. The handmaiden, his guide, opened it, revealing a breathtaking sight within. His eyes were instantly captivated by the presence of a striking woman. "Beautiful," Hakai couldn't help but exclaim. She was undeniably one of the world's most stunning individuals, with silver hair and golden eyes that possessed an otherworldly allure. She radiated a charisma and elegance that made her presence almost enchanting. Hakai acknowledged her beauty but was also adept at separating his professional obligations from personal matters. He couldn't help but wonder why such a woman chose to stay in a modest hotel. Was she hiding from something or someone?

Seated at the woman's request, Hakai listened intently as she voiced her concerns about her son's safety. The woman's brow furrowed, displaying genuine worry. Yet, beneath the surface, Hakai sensed a hidden agenda. Her words were somewhat unusual, but Hakai was never one to shy away from unconventional requests. "I need you to do something. I think my son is in danger," she explained, her eyes fixed on Hakai. "I want you to follow him, discreetly, and observe the moments when he's most vulnerable. I want to identify the weaknesses in our security so that I can deploy my men more effectively next time." While the job was peculiar, Hakai saw it as a relatively straightforward task and believed it would be a walk in a breeze.

After hearing the details from the silver-haired woman, Hakai nodded and rose from his seat. With a simple but firm statement, he conveyed, "Understood." The woman's smile radiated appreciation for Hakai's determination. "Here's the address." She then provided him with an address, offering a small, ink-stained piece of paper. The inscription contained a certain location in the city, and Hakai memorized it before leaving the building. Upon arriving at the given address, Hakai couldn't help but notice a lavish mansion that contrasted sharply with the surroundings, standing as a testament to the family's immense wealth. This was why the woman gave off charisma and elegance.

He regained his awareness and began to conceal himself, positioning his eyes on the mansion's front entrance. In due time, a figure emerged from the side of the mansion, unmistakably Duncan, the woman's son. That young boy fit the description of the silver-haired woman. Duncan approached a porch, where a tea set's arranged with porcelains, awaited him, bearing an air of solitude. No servants or family members attended him at this moment. With keen observation, Hakai noted Duncan's vulnerability, especially as it took the young man an extended period to conclude his breakfast. Finally, Duncan raised his hand to beckon a maid, who promptly appeared. With a swipe with a napkin, Duncan cleaned the residue of breakfast off his mouth. His legs were raised and he began to walk toward the rear of the house, entering an enclosed garden maze. There were limited sights within this garden labyrinth, and Hakai was keenly aware of the peril that lurked for young Duncan within this secluded space. He then noted this very moment for him to report.

Hakai

There was never a moment when Hakai took his eyes off Duncan. Every second held the potential for crucial information, and Hakai remained vigilant, refusing to miss any detail that might jeopardize the quest's success. However, the passage of time proved torturous, as there was nothing more tedious than spying and waiting. It became a battle of patience. Duncan had been attended by a maid after his time in the garden maze. The mad stood beside him, offering shoulder massages while he read beneath a portable umbrella. As dusk approached, Duncan finally ceased his reading, placing his feet on the ground. He turned his head toward the maid and instructed her to return.

With the maid gone, Duncan exited the house and merged into the bustling crowd. His figure despite a bit excessive on the fat moved swiftly through the streets, and Hakai had to exert some effort to maintain his distance. "This boy is fast!" Hakai mused, struggling to keep an eye on him until a sudden turn brought Duncan back into focus. They reached a long, dimly lit alley between two buildings. Alone in this secluded path, Duncan stopped beside a trash can and lit a cigar away from prying eyes. It was apparent that this moment was a part of his private routine, a departure from his family and the watchful eyes of the maids—a breach of certain household rules. Hakai's grin revealed his satisfaction as he gained another critical insight into Duncan's vulnerability. However, it would be his final hint as Duncan eventually returned to the safety of his house, guarded by staff and protectors.

As Hakai concluded his day and headed back to the same hotel, the silver-haired woman greeted him upon his arrival. He provided the gathered information and voiced his conclusive observation, saying, "I believe he is most vulnerable while inside your garden maze. You might want to address that vulnerability." The silver-haired woman smiled but it had hidden meaning that until the end of this quest, Hakai was unable to discern.
